A more complete photo of the area where James Dean's fatal car accident occurred. This photo was taken late in the day September 30, 2002.
Here you can see the road complex. The entrance to your left has been added since 1955, was never there in 1955. The green arrow shows the crash site area. James Dean's Spyder rested near a telephone poll after the crash  impact. The blue arrow shows about where the telephone pole was located in 1955. The fields still remain (left of photo). This photo gives a good idea of spatial impact and force of the crash. Even though Rolf, Dean's mechanic, survived his injuries, he was never the same physically or emotionally  from that day on.

The locations of the above mentioned areas where related to me by long time Cholame residents. You can barely see where the old highway was just before the new highway curves to your left.
